  5. Fill in your ability scores
  6. Choose your character's gender
  7. Fill in your character's height and weight
  8. Create your character's name
  9. Fill in your class's atributes
  10. Equipt your character and fill in the equiptment bonuses
  11. Enjoy your newly made character!

If you need more explanation, these next paragraphs will help you create your own unique character.

Step 1:
Choose your class.
First, you should go to page 5 and open the simple or advanced player's handbook, depending on your level of experince and what character you want to make. Next, to look at breif descriptions on page 2, and when you find one you want, find that page in one of the handbooks. After that, write down or bookmark that page number, and procede to step 2.

Step 2:
Choose your race.
First, look on page 1 to find what race you want your character to be. This can be according to your class or not. Next, write down or bookmark the page number and procede to step 3.

Step 3:
Fill in your racial traits
Go back page 1 and fill in the traits that are written there. If the page redirects you to one of the handbooks go to that page and write in your traits. Continue onto step 4.

Step 4:
Cacluate your ability scores
To calcuate your ability scores, roll 4d6, reroll 1's, and take the three highest numbers. Alternatively, you can use the standard array of ability scores, which is 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, and 8. After you have these written down, procede to step 5.

Step 5:
Fill in your ability scores
To fill in the ability scores, look at page 2 and see what the recomended high scores for the class you chose are. Next, decide what scores you want to be the high scores for your charcter to be, based on personal preference and/or the suggested scores on page 2. After you do that, continue onto step 6.

Step 6:
Choose your character's gender
Your character can either be male of female, and that choice does not affect your scores, but it does affect how other characters and player's interact with your character. Fill in you character's gender and procede to step 7.

Step 7:
Fill in your character's height and weight
First, get the player's handbook out and go to page 114 of the pdf file of the advanced player's handbook, or page 121 of the printed advanced player's handbook. You then will find a section with a table to roll for height and weight. After you find that, roll for the height and weight for your character. Then, procede to step 8.

Step 8:
Create your character's name and traits
First, while in the player's handbook, look in your race's name examples corespondent to your gender. If none are specified or you are unsatisfied with the names provided, look up a name generator, or use the one specified on page 5. Next, chose visual traits that are specified in the racial section of the handbook. After you do this, move to step 9.

Step 9:
Fill in your class's atributes
First, get to the page specified for your class. Next, look for the table for the class and fill your Proficiency bonus, your class features, and any other things listed in the table. Next, look for your hit dice and class proficiencies. Then, move to step 10.

Step 10:
Equipt your character and fill in the equiptment bonuses
First, get to the page on the player's handbook with starting gold for characters, and roll for your gold. Next, get armor that you are proficient in, or, if you are not proficient in armor, do not buy any armor. Next, look at your proficiencies for weapons and buy the weapons that make sense for your character and that you are proficient in. Then, buy items that you as an adventurer would need(e.g. bedroll, backpack, waterskin).

Good job! If you have done all these steps above you're all finished. If you need an example first look below.

Step 1:
Choose your class.
For my example Class, I chose to create a fighter.

Step 2:
Choose your race.
For my race I chose a Dwarf. I chose the subrace of a Mountain Dwarf. This would make my character a First Level Fighter Mountain Dwarf.

Step 3:
Fill in your racial traits
I then followed the third step and filled in my racial traits of a Mountain Dwarf, which means to fill in the traits of a Dwarf and of it's subrace Mountain Dwarf.

Step 4:
Cacluate your ability scores
For my ability scores I rolled a 12, 15, 18, 7, 10, and 12.

Step 5:
Fill in your ability scores
To fill in my ability scores, I put a 18 in Constitution, a 15 in Strength, a 12 in Charisma, a 12 in Wisdom, a 10 in Inteligence, and a 7 in Dexterity.

Step 6:
Choose your character's gender
For this character, I chose to make them male.

Step 7:
Fill in your character's height and weight
I rolled my dice for my Mountain Dwarf, and he stands 4'5" tall and weighs 165 lbs (pounds).

Step 8:
Create your character's name and traits
For my character I chose to name him Tordek Balderk. This used a male name from the player's handbook and a clan name from the player's handbook. I also made him tanned and black haired. I then continued onto step 9.

Step 9:
Fill in your class's atributes
I filled in my class atributes both in the sections that they applied to and in the notes when the didn't apply to anything I could represent (e.g. Second Wind).

Step 10:
Equipt your character and fill in the equiptment bonuses
For my gold I rolled my dice and got 125gp. I then spent most of it on weapons and armor because of my Fighter class.
